McKean quarterback Teddy Patton is this week's WDEL High School Athlete of the Week.
Teddy threw three touchdowns and ran for a forth in the Highlanders' 35-26 victory
over Howard on Saturday Night.
Patton says he hurt his shoulder during the game, but said he had to get back on the
field to help beat the Wildcats.
"We had beat them before, but we haven't beaten them in a long time. I really wanted
this one for my team so I had to suck it up a little bit."
McKean's last playoff appearance was in 1988, Teddy is hoping a victory against St.
George's Tech could make Highlander history.
"All the years I've been here, and all the years I've heard about the school we
haven't really done a lot of things. For me to be a part of this team and take it to
different lengths it would be great."
Teddy started last year for a team that went 4-6, what does he think the biggest
difference has been in his play?
"I was a captain and everything, but I was young on the team, I looked up to most of
the seniors. Now that I'm one of the leaders on the team and players look up to me it
helps me focus better."
Patton has accounted for 12 touchdowns through the air and 8 on the ground, what NFL
player does he say he resembles on the field?
"Michael Vick. Because Michael Vick is left handed, and I'm left handed. He runs
pretty good and I think I run pretty good. When he needs to sling it he can throw the
ball."
