Blackson capped off a busy week by scoring his 1,000th point in a win over Salesianum.

The 300-pounder says he's focused on his game away from the basket.

“I really took the time to stay after practice and get some shots and make sure my thing was falling, so when we needed it, I can hit it.”

Off the court, Blackson accepted a football scholarship to Auburn University in Alabama last week. He says a helping of southern hospitality swayed his decision.

“Nice people, I saw a nice campus. Everything was just nice. The love was there. It wasn't like I was coming up to a new place. I felt like I was in there because everybody came up to me, even the students that didn't play football came up to me and said “it's nice to see you.”

What's the biggest adjustment Angelo says he'll have to make when he goes to the Plains?

“Being independent. I really have to manage my time well. Practice, and work, and everything else. Just me by myself.

Angelo's Red Lion team is 14-1 on the basketball court. What does basketball bring to him that will help on the gridiron?

“It just keeps me in real good shape. It keeps my footwork right. I'm 300 so I've got to move. Everything goes in together and falls into place.”
