A.I. duPont quarterback Ramsey Lowery is this week's WDEL Male High School Athlete of the Week.
Ramsey accounted for two touchdowns in the Tigers season opening 41-0 victory over McKean Thursday night in the DFRC Kickoff Classic.
Lowery credits the A.I. crowd for helping him get through game number one.
"You feel that sense of home field advantage. You have that momentum on your side and it feels really good to get a win."
Ramsey threw one touchdown and ran for another in the win, which feels better to the quarterback?
"Even though we do run the option, I would say the passing touchdown is better because it just adds another dynamic to our offense. Instead of teams playing for the option they have to respect the pass as much as we do the run, so that's good and will help us down the line."
Ramsey shares the backfield with his older brother Quincey who also scored twice on Thursday. It's a pairing that dates back to 3rd grade flag football.
"I can remember playing with my brother and him being next to me in the backfield. If I needed help I would just go to him because he was older than me, faster than me, I was just look to him for help."
Ramsey also says having Quincey back there helps establish a quick offensive rhythm.
"We don't have to go through the practice time to get that chemistry. We have it just from living with each other, from being with each other all the time. That chemistry translates onto the field and it's a good fit."
