VIDEO: Interview with Jerome Stanley
Salesianum running back Jerome Stanley is this Week's WDEL Male High School Athlete of the Week.
Jerome ran for 219 yards and 4 touchdowns in the Sals 35-10 win on the road at Sussex Central last week in the state football tournament.
Stanley says scoring 4 touchdowns requires getting "into the zone."
"When you get into rhythm, it feels like no one can stop you."
A good running back has confidence, I asked Jerome what he thinks about when the quarterback is giving him the football.
"I think about how I'm going to score, I try to score every time I touch the ball."
Jerome says his nickname growing up was "The Bus" after Jerome Bettis, but says he tries to emulate LaDanian Tomlinson on the field.
"He has many abilities: He can catch the ball, he can run the ball. He can make you miss or run through you. He's a great running back."
As for life after football, Jerome says he wants to get into the business of upgrading Philadelphia properties into apartments.
"It seems like an opportunity to make something out of it. The buildings we don't really use I could see them making something of it and starting to make money off of our properties."
