Caesar Rodney swimmer Andrew Kim is this week's WDEL Male High School Athlete of the Week.
Andrew picked up 3 victories in CR's duel meet finale against Milford last week.
With the Henlopen Conference Championships this weekend, Andrew says the increased competition should bring out his best times.
"When you know you're going to beat the guy, it's hard to gage how fast you want to pace yourself. When you're going against someone you can keep up, you know you want to keep his pace and you don't worry about the clock as much."
CR's captain may not be the tallest member of the Rider team, but Andrew says that's no big deal.
"I was always one of the smaller guys. Everyone would always beat me at practice but I never let that keep me down I just kept swimming."
Andrew says he backed into making swimming his athletic focus.
"I played soccer and I thought that was going to be my main sport. In the off season I needed something to keep my endurance up, so I decided swimming would be a good sport for that."
Andrew isn't sure where he wants to go to school yet, but he says Pre-Med interests him as a practical major.
"You get to learn so much about the human body. It's the stuff you can help people with in the future."
