Salesianum volleyball's Erik Halberg is this week's WDEL Male High School Athlete of the Week.

Erik had 5 kills, 3 blocks, 3 aces, and 4 digs in the Sals' straight set County Championship winning victory over Dickinson last week.
I asked Erik which part of his crowded box score is most fun to him.
"Aces are fun because it's only you, but a kill, that's a great feeling."
You might say Erik was destined to end up on a volleyball court, even before berth.
"My parents actually met on a volleyball court so it's been a lifelong thing to me. I didn't really start until before freshman year, but since then I've done it."
Erik says some of the best advice he's ever received actually came in Latin.
"(Latin Phrase)... Deeds not words. That really started coming to me. You can't just say what you've got to do, you've got to do it."
Erik will be taking his volleyball talents to Vassar College in New York next year.
"I want to be a writer, and they're a really strong liberal arts (school) in English. It's a small school that's really good at volleyball that finished 9th in the nation last year."
