VIDEO: Interview with Salesianum's Troy Reeder
Salesianum running back and linebacker Troy Reeder is this week's WDEL Male High School Athlete of the Week.
Reeder scored 3 touchdowns in the Sals' 42-14 victory over East Orange High School of New Jersey last Friday.
Troy transitioned from quarterback to running back this year and says it helped make his team better.
"One of our greatest strengths is getting to run behind our big, strong offensive line. Having me back there to follow them through the hole in one of our greatest strengths."
Troy is being looked at by several Division I schools, and his future could be at linebacker, a position he says he prefers over offense.
"Since I was younger I always liked being the hitter, not the guy getting hit. It even carried over to high school."
Being a popular recruiting target has its downfalls, as Troy says he has to carefully balance academics, football, and recruiting, but says it's an honor.
"A lot of the guys I've looked up that have moved on from different programs that I've watched since I was a kid. Now those programs are coming to look at me, it's really fun."
Troy says his favorite class at Salesianum is world history, which just happens to be the only class taught by football coach Bill DiNardo.
"It's a lot of fun and he gets to put all of his effort into our class and he makes our class entertaining."
