VIDEO: Interview with Allyson Jennings
Padua volleyball hitter Allyson Jennings is this week's WDEL Female High School Athlete of the Week.
Allyson had 29 digs and 11 kills in the Pandas' 2nd round victory over Wilmington Friends Tuesday. Jennings says she takes both offense and defense seriously.
"I think defense is one of the most important positions on the court, but my favorite position is front row (attack)."
Jennings says her team's best match this year might have come in a loss to St. Mark's 2 weeks ago, where sets were played to 30-28, and 33-31.
"It definitely was one of the most intense games, we just kept playing our strongest and doing what we practiced and we just pulled through."
Allyson says her favorite volleyball memory was when her 8th grade CYO team won a state championship.
"It was a great feeling, especially because everyone worked so hard to get to that position."
Allyson is only a junior, but at the moment she thinks she could major in nursing in college.
"I really admire people that help others. I would really enjoy being (one of them) one day."
