VIDEO: Interview with Mary Abram
Ursuline three-sport athlete Mary Abram is this week's WDEL Female High School Athlete of the Week.

Mary scored 16 points in a basketball victory over Archmere last week.

Abram says her team gained experience while finishing 4th in the national bracket of the recent Diamond State Classic at St. Elizabeth.

"We just learned teamwork and that we've got to control the pace of the games because that's what we're known for. You got to win all four quarters."

Mary has signed to play lacrosse at Delaware next year after a career of volleyball, basketball, and lacrosse at Ursuline. What is her favorite sport?

"Basketball even though I'm playing lacrosse in college. I played basketball my whole life, and I just started playing lacrosse in high school. Lacrosse is basically just basketball with a stick with defense and everything, but I'm going to always love basketball because I played it."

Abram says she thinks being part of a sports team at Delaware will help her fit in at her new school.

"Playing a sport is just like being here (at Ursuline). It's really small, everyone's really close, so having a team and knowing I'm going to be a big school (will help)."

As for a major, Mary says she's interested in sports journalism. She says one of her inspirations is a popular television figure.

"Erin Andrews, obviously everyone loves her, it just looks like it's fun!"
