VIDEO: Interview with Claudia Seemans
St. Mark's volleyball setter Claudia Seemans is this week's M&T Bank WDEL Female High School Athlete of the Week.

The co-captain recorded 36 assists in the Spartans' straight set victory over previously undefeated Charter School of Wilmington Tuesday.

She says her biggest improvement has been as a leader.

"I definitely think it's good to lead the underclassman and set the example for them to honestly show them that St. Mark's is what, and where, you want to be."

Claudia's teammate Abbie Mirabella is one of the top spikers in the state, and she credits much of her success back to her setter.

"We always say that we click when she gives me a good set. We definitely have a bond, we're good friends, and that's usually what happens, we gel.

While setting is Claudia Seemans' main responsibility, she added a kill, and a rare block which sparked a celebration.

"In practice every time I block it's a big deal and I get so excited. For that one time to have it happen in a game, I think it's the first time I've ever done it in high school. For that to happen, my heart was growing, I was so excited."

When Claudia is done at St. Mark's, she wants to major in marketing in college.

"I've been in student counsel for a few years now. I definitely think the creative ability here has helped me gain strength and that's really what I want to do in college."
