VIDEO: Interview with Jasalyn Davis-Denkins
William Penn basketball's Jasalyn Davis-Denkins is this week's M&T Bank / WDEL High School Athlete of the Week.

The combo guard-forward scored 15 points to help lead her team to a victory in the annual Blue-Gold All-Star Basketball Game last Saturday.

She said it was exciting to get to know many of her new teammates who were opponents over the past four years.

"The first day of practice we all came in not knowing each other. Coming in we played against each other, and everybody just gelled. We just had a fun time the whole time."

Another exciting part of the week for Jasalyn was getting to play at the University of Delaware.

"I never got to play on the BOB's floor (in the postseason) in my postseason career, so to be picked as one of the all-stars was really great."

The Blue-Gold Game benefitted Best Buddies of Delaware, and Jasalyn says it's the type of cause her intended major of Human Services is perfect for.

"I have a couple of friends at school who are in the Best Buddies program. I think it's a good thing when you have a game like this that they get to play and interact with other people that are their age."

Jasalyn says one of the best parts of basketball is how she's been able to share moments with her father.

"Last summer when I won the National Championship in AAU, it was a really good moment for us. After I won, he looked at me and started tearing up, and that was a great feeling for me."
