We'd like to thank everyone for sticking with us over the last few days as we battled our way through technical difficulties.
Early Monday morning, during those nasty storms that passed through our area while we were sleeping, one of our four towers took a direct lightning hit.
It completely destroyed the main communications line in/out of our studios - leaving us with no phone and no Internet (thus, no e-mail, no way to update WDEL.com, etc.).
The lightning also did a number on one of our "tuning coils." (Don't ask what that is, because we non-engineers have no idea....)
Check out our Facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/1150amwdel to see pictures of what a tuning coil is supposed to look like, and what one looks like after it's hit by lightning.
Because of the damage, we've been broadcasting at a lower power since Monday. We hope the tuning coil will be replaced soon and we can fire up the Mighty 1150.
