Basketball buzz at UD

It's no surprise that there is a buzz around basketball at the University of Delaware these days...after all, the Delaware women's team, with All-America Elena Delle Donne, is currently ranked 9th in the country with a record of 24-1. Delle Donne should be first team All-America this year (if she isn't its because of small school bias...she is clearly one of the five best players in the country) and the team certainly has a good shot of making the round of 16.

And while the men's team doesn't have quite the upside, a surprisingly good season, with a relatively young team, has produced a great deal of optimism and growing interest in Monte Ross' squad.

The men's team is currently on a 6 game winning streak and is at 10-6 in the CAA...they have a shot at getting the 4 seed in the upcoming CAA tournament...if ODU loses its last two games, Georgia State wins its last two and Delaware wins its last two. It is a real possibility to get a first round bye in the CAA tournament.

Many people always felt that Ross was building better talent into the program...the question was always could he coach them to their potential. So far this year the answer, at least for now, is yes.
