Many Republicans may be cynical, skeptical, or annoyed by alternative energy - probably an automatic response to Democrats' & environmentalists' embrace of it - but the wind farm industry has been contributing heavily to Republican Party candidates during this election cycle. (I realize environmentalists are divided over wind turbines, because of their potential impact on bats and birds!) Proof that the wind people are fair-weathered friends of Democrats, progressives, and environmentalists.
Anyway... here's POLITICO's account of wind money going into G.O.P. coffers...
Or, is it proof that the wind industry thinks Obama might lose and they want to "cover their bases"?
I'm not skeptical of alternative energy, just the use of taxpayers' dollars to "prop" up the industry...let private investors take the risks, and receive the benefits or losses, instead of taxpayers footing the bill.

On a more sinister note, it could be the wind farm bunch has a premonition that Obama is going to lose and so now they must give money to the Romney campaign in order to ostensibly secure continued government handouts.
