Perhaps President Obama's performance in Tuesday night's second Presidential debate will make this all moot. A classic Gilda Radner: "Never mind".
But, an intriguing political analysis making the rounds comes from The ATLANTIC's Molly Ball... that President Obama had been treading water BEFORE his unimpressive performance in the first Presidential debate. But Mitt Romney's missteps dominated the media coverage in September. Not that Mr. Obama's gaffes weren't noted last month. Yet few people connected the dots at the time...
