We are so very lucky in this area to have an abundance of theater at our disposal. Every summer, we can choose between Shakespeare under the stars at the Delaware Shakespeare Festival at Rockwood Park, or the delightful musicals put on every year by the Brandywiners at Longwood Gardens.
Throughout the year, community theaters like the Chapel Street Players in Newark, the Delaware Children's Theatre, the Wilmington Drama League, the Everett Theatre in Middletown, Bootless Stageworks, and City Theatre Company in Wilmington are putting on some amazing plays and musicals. There are a lot of shows that you know and love, and a few you may not recognize--but that is the beauty of having so much live theater in the greater Wilmington area! And let's not forget the larger theaters we have in Wilmington, like the Delaware Theatre Company, the DuPont Theatre at the duPont Hotel, and the New Candlelight Theater in Arden.
As you can see, there are so many opportunities in our area to see live theatre, audition for a show, and volunteer. Right here, you will find reviews for shows that are opening in our area, as well as audition information and other theater news. If you know of any shows coming up that we might have missed, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Gina, is there a link that shows all the various theatre's in the area rather than having to go search for each theatre?
There is one additional group I know of in Newark that performs at the U of Del's Rosselle Center for the Arts. They're called the Resident Ensemble Players. We usually go once or twice a year to see their shows. They did a fantastic job of Shakespeare's A Mid Summers' Night Dream. The staging of this was awesome.
Their phone is 302- 831- 2204, their online link: WWW.REP.UDEL/EDU
