Chip Flowers' document dump & pledge to repay state: Will all this quell the criticism?

Time will tell whether state Treasurer Chip Flowers' latest mea culpa and document dump will quell the criticism of Flowers' Alaskan trip. Likely, Flowers' many critics won't be satisfied and the fallout will still hinder Flowers' immense political ambitions.

But the Treasurer did release additional information about undocumented travel spending.

Flowers admitted to owing the state $151.34 for what he called "overages". He pledged to compensate the state for portions of his hotel & food expenses from that treasurers' conference in the 49th state, plus costs stemming from an additional day spent at a conference in Seattle, Washington. ($460 + more than $400)

Time will tell if Flowers provided all the documents about his travels sought under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), including travel expenses not only in Alaska, but in Vermont. A disconnect still appears to exist between today's document dump and Flowers' earlier assertion that certain documents were missing or awry.

By another yardstick, though, Chip Flowers has certainly been more forthcoming about expenses than former Governor Ruth Ann Minner ever was, and questions have even come up about Governor Markell's overseas travels.

In Delaware, you should have voted for Colin Bonini. He wouldn't have tolerated any of this nonsense, and would have done nothing he would have to apologize for.

It pays to have people of integrity in office.

Colin Bonini? You could have stopped after 'and would have done nothing...'.

Flowers has not been forthcoming. All we learned today was that he either sucked at saving receipts or he was hiding info once again. He still spent three days after the conference allegedly meeting with banking officials. Who he refuses to identify. In his hotel. In Alaska. Because that's what EVERYbody does with their extra time in Alaska. Not.

I think he's just trying to throw enough stuff out there so that people will move on. Never mind that the stuff is full of holes.

A note about Colin Bonini's alleged integrity. He collected significant sums of money as a member of the Joint Sunset Committee for meetings and hearings that he did not attend.

For years, he touted an alleged Masters in Public Administration from the U of D on the official Delaware General Assembly site. He never had such a degree; isn't even close to it. He took it down but not before we saved it for posterity's sake.

Oh, and he's been in elective office for about 20 years w/o a single legislative accomplishment to show for it.

'Colin Bonini' and 'integrity' don't belong in the same sentence.

Which in no way is a defense of how Chip Flowers has run his office.

Bonini is a joke, and like most jokes, he is Republican.

Kavips: Of course your president would be the exception.

Lol. History will prove otherwise. As a teaser, name one other president who has presided over 48 months of continuous job growth?

"I can do that" said no Republican.... ever....

Point being made is: You can call him a joke because you don't like having a black man in charge of the greatest country in the world, but that makes you the joke... Not him.

I am glad this Flowers controversy came up. I'd forgotten about Bonini... Too bad for him, he just got dragged through the mud again...

It shows one great difference between Democrats and Republicans... Democrats face the music, apologize and then perform good Government... I think Bonini still has not admitted, even though everyone else knows, he is guilty as a little boy in front of a missing Blueberry pie.... And his policies were absolutely atrocious... His motto known very well among the lobbying crowd...: Pay me enough and I'll support it...

Yeah Kavips. I got one. His name was RONALD WILSON REAGAN.

And I'll have you know that I know Colin Bonini personally and he's a GOOD man. Shame on both you and El Segundo or whatever his name is for defaming my friend.

Mr. Pizza... prove it... if you truly know Bonini... what does he like on his pizza?
