Radio hobbyists from around North America to gather for SWL Winterfest in Plymouth Meeting
Our annual appeal for radio hobbyists:
Long-distance radio hobbyists (DX'ers), whether attracted to long-distance A.M. medium wave, longwave, shortwave, TV, FM, or UHF DX; amateur radio operators (hams); CB'ers; scanner afficionados; "pirate" radio broadcasters; etc., will be descending on Plymouth Meeting, Pennsylvania... Friday--Saturday, March 14th--15th for the annual SWL Winterfest.
Some of the highlights of this year's schedule of events (from my perspective): Behind the Curtain: North Korean Broadcasting & Propaganda... Radio Broadcasting: The Earliest Years... & Whatever Happened to Digital Radio?
People drive or fly in from hundreds of miles; from northern Delaware, we're under an hour away to Plymouth Meeting.
Perhaps your old receivers / rigs are gathering dust in a closet or the attic, but with more leisure time, this is the time to reintroduce yourself to the hobby of your youth.
Of course, a lot has changed. Many favorite international broadcasters have disappeared entirely (Radio Canada International, Radio Netherlands Worldwide); others have made a complete transition to the internet; but still other stations and programs have emerged. Find out the latest.
You could drive up each day, or just stay at the hotel (Reduced rates available for two weeks)...
