Seeking re-election, Treasurer Chip Flowers will try to portray Dem. foe as a tool of Gov. Markell

In an interview with WDEL's Amy Cherry, state Treasurer Chip Flowers announces for re-election. Not surprisingly, he will characterize his Democratic primary opponent, Sean Barney, as nothing but a tool of the Markell Administration.

Check out Amy's report and tell us what you think...

Does Mr. Flowers really think that we actually care that a "tool" of the governor is opposing him in a primary? He is running simply to satisfy his enormous ego.

Does Flowers really expect folks to vote for him??

Once again, it's Rodney King vs. Barney Fife.

Y'know, it's funny... I had the same feeling as the rest of you. Who in his/her right mind would vote to re-elect Flowers at this point?

Then I remember that New Castle County voters just put Tom Gordon back in office.

We're dumb.

Shawn: I didn't vote for Gordon, but know folks who did, and what motivated them was money; he didn't raise county taxes at all during his two previous terms, so they could overlook his "sins" and vote for him. In other words, they sold out.

Flowers doesn't have that reputation going for him, so my guess is most of those folks won't be as "forgiving" to Mr. Flowers as they were for Mr. Gordon.

So if the Republicans don't offer a candidate, then it would be better to have Barney Fife than Rodney King [to use Mrpizza's name's for these candidates].

This could be an opportunity to get a statewide Republican elected, so all the G.O.P. has to do is find a good candidate and get them to run against, hopefully, Sean Barney, but I guess the DEMS could be foolish enough to re-nominate Chip Flowers.

Perhaps Bonini should take a second shot at it.
