What began in 1973 as a group of artists gathering in one another's homes to support each other's work, has grown into the Dover Art League.
“The Art League's mission is to provide a place for local artists to come together, have a common forum, have a place for them to market their works, have a place for the local community to come in and see the work of local artists, and also to generally educate the public about what goes on in our local arts community.”
That's Art League President Reneta Green-Streett, who says the league supports all artists, regardless of their medium.
“We have potters, we have painters, we have lots of jewelry. We have people coming in making children's toys, children's puppets, sand art...just about any medium you can think of, we have some artist bringing their wares into the Art League, or some artist affiliated with the Art League.”
