For more than 20 years, the Delaware Institute for the Arts in Education, has served 124,000 students through the professional development of over 2,400 teachers, with regard to the arts. But Executive Director Danny Peak says the organization has expanded outside of the schools.
“We have another program besides our K through 12 program...it's the Delaware Wolf Trap program, which is designed for pre-school kids, three to five years of age, and it focuses on giving them the educational tools so that they're more successful, or they're successful when they get into elementary school. We especially focus the arts activities that we do on literacy development.”
However, Peak says the DIAE focuses on people at the other end of the range as well.
“We also have done programs where we've reached out to the community. Over a seven month period, we hit 28 nursing homes from New Castle County to...we did a whole week of a tour down in Sussex County.”
