Markell says he's not worried about party unity moving forward, since Lieutenant Governor John Carney offered his congratulations and a pledge.
In his concession speech, Carney told supporters they were faced with a tough decision and have to move forward.
Markell will face Republican Bill Lee in November.

Both Bill Lee and Mike Protack look forward to the election in November but for different reasons.
In the race for the Republican gubernatorial candidate, Bill Lee beat out Mike Protack by 44% with a final tally of nearly three times the votes.
Bill Lee wants the Republicans to savor the moment but not forget about Jack Markell and the tough road to the November elections.
While Protack said the results were disappointing and not good for the Republican party they weren't all that surprising and he looks forward to running on the Independent ticket in the fall.

WDEL's Frank Gerace reports.Audio Here
After his primary election win over fellow Democrat Robert Bovell Tuesday night, Baker told WDEL News he doesn't believe in term limits, and doesn't think 12 years in office is an unbearable burden for anyone.
First elected in 2000, Baker says the thing that makes the Mayor's office so appealing to him is Wilmington's potential to become a world-class city.
So far, Baker doesn't have a Republican challenger in the general election in November.

A big story downstate: disgraced former State Rep. John Atkins wins his primary.

A line of quick moving storms didn't have a lasting effect. They did knock out power at the State Board of Elections office, but caused no problems. Delaware Commissioner of Elections Elaine Manlove says their machines run on batteries, and power was restored in about ten minutes.
She added that the state's electronic voting machines had up to 8 hours of battery capability if power fails at a polling place.
