Official Rules
  1. No purchase is necessary to register/win.
  2. The Checkered Flag Challenge is open to legal U.S. citizens age 21 years or older living within the immediate broadcast area of WSTW, WDEL, and WXCY.
  3. The Checkered Flag Challenge is a feature of select Delmarva Broadcasting radio station websites, specifically WSTW.com, WDEL.com, and WXCYfm.com. Winners are selected from the best scores of all players from all three websites combined.
  4. You may only submit one entry per week. If more than one entry from the same person is found, only the first submission will be accepted, regardless of whether those entries are submitted from different websites.
  5. We encourage playing each and every week of the contest. As opposed to other Delmarva Broadcasting contests, you may play again immediately after winning, to help your chances of winning the grand prize.
  6. Each week's NASCAR race entry form is posted by 5pm on Monday of that week. The entry form includes every driver currently listed on the official NASCAR.com Sprint Cup Standings Page and Drivers Page.
  7. Drivers cannot be selected in consecutive weeks. Any driver chosen in the previous race will not be available to be selected for the following race. Thus, your drivers list will change week to week throughout the contest, and will not be the same as other players' lists.
  8. To enter, complete the weekly online entry form by selecting the five drivers you believe will finish in first through fifth places in the next race. All entries must be received by the deadline posted (which will be approximately one hour prior to the time listed as race start on the official 2014 NASCAR schedule).
  9. SCORING:
    • Entries will be scored based on the finishing position of the drivers selected. If one of the drivers you pick finishes in the top 5, you will be awarded points as follows:
      • 1st place - 100 points
      • 2nd place - 90 points
      • 3rd place - 80 points
      • 4th place - 70 points
      • 5th place - 60 points
    • Additionally, you will earn 25 bonus points for each driver whose position you pick exactly.
      • Example: If your 3rd place driver actually does finish in 3rd place, you earn 80 points for the 3rd place finish, plus a 25 point bonus for correctly guessing the position, for a total of 105 points for that driver.
    • Scoring is based on the drivers you pick, not on team or car number. You will only receive points based on how the drivers you pick fare. If there is a substitute driver on a team for any given week, that substitute driver is credited with the points he wins, NOT the driver who usually drives that car.
    • Our scoring method does not factor in whether a driver is competing for a Sprint Cup championship. If a driver races in a Sprint Cup race, you can earn points for picking him/her.
  10. Weekly scores are accumulated and tallied for "monthly" scores. The player with the highest score at the end of a month period receives the monthly prize. Monthly scores are reset to zero after a monthly prize has been awarded. The schedule of month periods is as follows:
    • Month 1: February 10 - March 23 (5 races)
    • Month 2: March 24 - April 26 (4 races)
    • Month 3: April 27 - June 1 (4 races)
    • Month 4: June 2 - July 5 (5 races)
    • Month 5: July 6 - August 10 (4 races)
    • Month 6: August 11 - September 14 (5 races)
    • Month 7: September 15 - October 11 (4 races)
    • Month 8: October 12 - November 16 (5 races)
Note that our schedule includes only the 36 Sprint Cup Points events. The season starts with the Daytona 500, and does not include the NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race or Showdown.
  11. Weekly scores are also accumulated and tallied for overall scores. Only a player's best 15 scores will be used in figuring their overall score. At the end of the first half of the Sprint Cup Season (on July 5, 2014), the player with the highest overall score wins the first-half grand prize.
  12. Upon awarding the first-half grand prize, all total scores will be reset to zero. The above process will be repeated to find the second-half grand prize winner after the final race of the 2014 season, using only the races after July 6, 2014.
  13. The Second Half Grand Prize includes the winner's choice of one of two prizes:
    • A year-long family membership to the YMCA of Delaware, OR
    • A 5-day/4-night, all-inclusive trip for two, including airfare, to Grand Bahia Principe Hotels & Resorts in Cancun/Riviera Maya, courtesy of Apple Vacations. Taxes, insurance, fees and surchages totalling approximately $368 per person, subject to change, are not included and must be paid by winner. Travel must be completed by August 1, 2015. Black-out dates apply. Trip cannot be extended beyond validity dates. Other restrictions apply, as detailed on the prize certificate. Prize value: $2,400.
Only one of these prizes will be awarded, at the winner's choice. Winner will also receive 2 tickets to the Spring 2015 NASCAR Sprint Cup race at Dover International Speedway, regardless of which other prize he/she chooses.
  14. In the event of a tie at the end of a Month Period or one of the contest halves, the contest judges will hold a random drawing of the tied eligible entries to determine a prize winner.
  15. REGISTRATION: Players must register for an account and log-in using their username and password to submit picks for each race. One account per person. Total scores from different accounts cannot and will not be combined.
  16. You must supply a valid email address when creating an account. Email addresses that are found to be bad or unknown will invalidate your entry.
  17. Delmarva Broadcasting is not responsible for lost entries, technical difficulties, acts of God, and any other issues that may cause problems with playing the contest.
  18. Delmarva Broadcasting is not responsible for changes to prizes made as a result of/at the request of the prize provider.
  19. Employees, agents, successors, assignees, advertising agencies, promotional companies, immediate family members, household members, sponsors, agents, affiliates, parent companies, vendors, and suppliers of Delmarva Broadcasting Company, and others acting on their behalf are ineligible to participate.
  20. Prize Winners waive any and all claims of liability against the contest sponsors for any damages, injuries, or other losses which relate directly to the contest.
  21. Prize Winners are responsible for paying any and all taxes associated with the prizes.
  22. Prize Winners' names and their likenesses may be used by Delmarva Broadcasting for promotional purposes without further compensation to winners.
  23. Void where prohibited by law.
  24. Delmarva Broadcasting reserves the right to disqualify or modify any entry for any reason.
  25. Rules subject to change without notice.
  26. Contest judges' decisions are final.
