VIDEO: Archmere QB Ambrogi named "WDEL Athlete of the Week"
Archmere Academy Quarterback Chris Ambrogi has been named our inaugural WDEL High School Athlete of the Week for the 2010-2011 season.
Chris led the Auks to a 33-0 victory over Chichester (Pa.) on Saturday. Ambrogi accounted for 4 touchdowns, 2 passing, and 2 rushing.
"I always like a touchdown through the air. I think it's more my job to throw and the running backs' job to score touchdowns running, and they do a great job of it too."
You might call Archmere football a family affair, his brother is part of the offensive line.
"The offensive line has been doing a great job this year. There's a lot of guys at new positions. We have a whole new center and right side of the line. We have 2 two-year starters on the left, including my brother. It's a lot of fun."
Chris' dad, Jerry, is the head coach, what's the best part about playing for your dad? "Being with him every day after school, it brings us closer as a family."
The toughest part? "Being made fun of at home for making bonehead plays."
Chris says he wants to play Division III football in the future, any schools of interest? "Johns Hopkins, Dickinson, Franklin & Marshall, those kind of schools"
Ambrogi and the Auks face Lake Forest in Felton Saturday afternoon in Claymont.
