VIDEO: Phillies invite kids to paint team mural

The Phillies organization is asking for kids help in completing a team mural that will be unveiled next summer in Philadelphia.

WDEL's LeAnne Matlach has more.

The Please Touch museum is teaming up with the city's mural arts program to get kids involved in creating a mural for the Phillies.

Children were able to paint individual pictures of the Phanatic at the museum Wednesday and also help paint a larger Phanatic that will become part of an 8 story mural.

Michael Harris with the Phillies says events with fans are vital to the organization.

"The games are great, the sport is great but giving back to the community and having the community be involved in as many activities as we can is vitally important to us," he said.

Children will be able to see their hard work at 24th and Walnut Streets in Philly next summer when the mural is unveiled.

In addition to helping paint, fans can also vote for their favorite player to be added to the mural. Fans can vote at Phillies.com.
