VIDEO: DMA's Gemmato - WDEL Male HS Athlete of the Week
Delaware Military Academy's Nate Gemmato is this week's WDEL Male High School Athlete of the Week.
Nate recorded a hat trick in the Seahawks' 6-3 State Championship victory over A.I. DuPont.
The junior says he couldn't have scored three goals without his teammates.
"On my first goal I got a pass from Tyler (Golembrosky) and I put it in the net. It's all about team effort, so those three goals were all me and my team."
I asked Nate, who scored over 20 goals this season, what makes a good goal scorer.
"He has to have a good sense of where to be and where the puck is. You have to know how to score, it's a natural talent."
For his hockey hero, Nate doesn't look a Broad Street Bully or another Philadelphia Flyer, but rather Boston Bruins legend Bobby Orr.
"He played for the Bruins in 1972 and was on the team when they won the Stanley Cup. He's my idol because he's one of the best players in the history of hockey."
Gemmato will graduate from DMA next spring, and while he's not sure where he wants to go to school yet, he says he wants to become a doctor.
"I've always had an interest in medicine and helping people with their problems. Being able to help people with their diagnosis and help them get better."
