New marine vessel joins Delaware City Fire Company

The Delaware City Fire Company expands its fleet of marine firefighting equipment.

A 34-foot marine firefighting vessel was christened Sunday.

Grant money approved by the Coast Guard Maritime Area Security Committee in 2010 led to design and construction of the fireboat, which has been given the name "Never Forget."

A Canadian firm won the contract to build the fireboat, which was completed last summer.

The fireboat, although it was just formally dedicated, has actually been in use for a while.

Its first deployment was on Easter Sunday for a mulch fire near the Port of Wilmington.
