Markell thanks troops in weekly speech In his weekly address, Governor Markell called on Delawareans to remember why we celebrate Memorial Day. In the speech, broadcast on WDEL, Markell singled out 3 Delawareans who lost their lives in the Iraq and Afghanistan wars, and said he's proud of the troops over whom he has authority as Commander-in-Chief of the Delaware National Guard. Markell said members of the military deserve our respect and our thanks for putting their lives on the line, and we should remember that every Memorial Day.
