AUDIO: Delaware women's hoopsters add transfer forward Boston College forward Joy Caracciolo has enrolled at Delaware and will be eligible to play in the 2013-14 season, the Blue Hens announced Monday. Caracciolo, a 6'2" forward from Bristow, Va. played 30 games for the Eagles last season, averaging 4.8 points and 3 rebounds in her 18 minutes per contest. She scored in double figures four times, including a 13-point effort against St. Joe's and 11 points versus Wake Forest. Delaware head coach Tina Martin tells WDEL Sports she was heavily interested in recruiting Caracciolo before she went to the ACC. "She's multitalented. She can shoot the ball from 15 to 17 feet, she can put it on the floor, she's 6'2", she's very athletic, and she's an outstanding rebounder." Caraccilo figures to steady a program which will lose 6 rising seniors after this year including 1st team All-American Elena Delle Donne. Forward Danielle Parker is also scheduled to play her last season for the Hens this upcoming school year. "Losing a Danielle Parker and losing an Elena Delle Donne, it certainly helps us bringing Joy in because she's played at a very high level in the ACC. For us, it fills a need for us at that post position." While at Stonewall Jackson High School, Caracciolo averaged 21 points, 12 rebounds, 3 steals, and 4 blocked shots per game as a senior, earning first team All-State, all-district, and all-region honors. |
