Coons defends Markell DNC speech Senator Coons Thursday defended Governor Markell's use of Mitt Romney's "I like to fire people" comment at the DNC. Speaking from Charlotte, Coons made the claim to WDEL News that the GOP convention was more about touting the Romney/Ryan ticket than outlining its proposals. He says, "It was long on trying to humanize Governor Romney and trying to introduce Congressman Ryan to folks, but very short on the actual details. There's very little in the substantive details of their tax and budget plans that was discussed in the convention, or frankly, that further analysis has revealed." Coons said Markell wasn't slamming Romney's business background by using his comment, which PolitiFact said was taken out of context. |
