Markell campaign donors sue Wilmington Housing Authority
A Pennsylvania development company with ties to Gov. Markell is suing the Wilmington Housing Authority over a failed plan to revitalize the Riverside public housing project.
Roizman Development claims it is owed more than $1.9 million after the housing authority last year pulled the plug on plans to revitalize the northeast Wilmington housing project by building 368 new units.
According to the federal lawsuit, WHA terminated the project after it failed to get a $19 million federal grant and has failed to pay Roizman for predevelopment costs and work it has done.
Members of the Roizman family have been campaign contributors to Markell and also have donated to his political action committee.
The executive director of the housing authority was not immediately available for comment Monday.
