VIDEO: St. Francis' new facility encourages seniors to live independently
Delaware's elderly have a chance to maintain their independence through a new St. Francis facility in Wilmington.
WDEL's Amy Cherry reports.
Just steps away from the Russell Petersen Wildlife Refuge on Wilmington's Riverfront, St. Francis' Life center gives seniors an opportunity to age with dignity.
Delaware's Health and Social Services Secretary Rita Landgraf says this is what all seniors want.
"This is the opportunity to remain in their homes as long as possible, but not to feel isolated within their community," says Landgraf.
The all inclusive health care facility at the edge of the Shipyard Center boasts clinics, treatment rooms, exercise space, and a chapel. It can treat up to 200 seniors at one time.
