Middletown dominates all-state football team

Three Middletown standouts and a St. Elizabeth senior heading to Rutgers are the big winners in the Delaware all-state football team balloting.

Middletown junior quarterback Darius Wade was named first team quarterback and the offensive player of the year, as he led the Cavaliers to their second straight title.

The Cavs junior wide receiver Chris Godwin picked up three first-team all-state honors...at wide receiver, linebacker and as kick returner.

Middletown senior lineman Jacob Smulski was named first team on both offense and defense....guard on offense and at defensive end and was named the lineman of the year.

St. Elizabeth senior standout Andre Patton was named first team wide receiver and first team defensive back and also was selected as the defensive player of the year. He was also the second team kick returner.

Middletown senior Nick DiGati also won first team honors on both sides of the ball...as an offensive tackle and at linebacker.
