Sussex County GOP chairman Wood dies at 73

The chairman of the Sussex County Republican Committee has died.

The Sussex County GOP says Jerry Wood, who was elected to the position in March, died around 8:45 this morning at his home in Frankford. The Indiana native was 73 years old.

State Republican Party chairman John Sigler said in a statement Friday that Wood "left a significant mark" on the GOP at the local and national levels.

Wood was a delegate to the Republican National Convention in August. He's survived by two brothers, one son and four grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements haven't been announced.
