VIDEO: Concord's Doogan - WDEL Female HS Athlete of the Week
Concord junior Meghan Doogan is this week's WDEL Female High School Athlete of the Week.
Meghan averaged over 22 points in victories over Middletown, Delcastle, and Brandywine last week.
Doogan says she focuses on being a dual threat to opposing defenses, especially since Concord lost their starting point guard to injury early in the season, forcing a more up-tempo style.
"I get open jump shots and I can drive to the basket more. When I'm outside I can get an inside pass to our bigs (forwards), which we have good bigs we can utilize."
Meghan's sister Kelley starred at Urusline before heading to St. Francis of Pennsylvania. Meghan says she's learned a lot from her older sibling.
"She's tought a lot about mentally keeping me in the game. She tought me all I know about shooting, she's a really good shooter."
Meghan Doogan says she started playing basketball at age 5, and chose to focus on the sport after trying out several others.
"It's the kind of thing I could never live without. I also love the up-tempo (nature) and the intensity, it's enjoyable."
Meghan says not sure where she wants to go to school yet, but sees herself as a writer in the future.
"I can relate and write my feelings down. I like how it's personal, it's not one answer, it's what I want to think."
