VIDEO: Will. Penn's Foreman- WDEL Male HS Athlete of the Week
William Penn wrestler Dayquan Foreman is this week's WDEL Male High School Athlete of the Week.
Foreman pinned his Salesianum opponent last Saturday to help his team pull away with a 37-24 victory.
The Colonial wrestler is top ranked in his 152-weight class and stays humble through all his success.
"I got to give it to my teammates and my coaches, without them, I wouldn't have the four of five pins and winning so much right now so I give it all to them," said Foreman.
Although Foreman has won all five of his matches this season, he gave credit to his toughest competitor thus far.
"My toughest match was against Wilson from Smyrna at 160 during the Milford tournament,"he said.
The senior believes his coaching also separates the undefeated team from the rest.
"Our coach, Marvin Dooley, he helps us a lot. Our conditioning, as you can see in the background, we train harder than most of the teams in the state," said the wrestler. "When teams are not working hard and have days off, we really don't. So basically everyday we are in this room working hard."
Foreman is a two-sport athlete. Along with wrestling, he also is a football player at William Penn. He explained, that the conditioning is completely different from sport-to-sport.
"I got a little condition, but once you get to wrestling it's like your body has to get used to it because it's a lot of wear and tear throughout the year and in the beginning, and the rooms hot when you're cutting weight, it wears on your body," said Foreman.
When it comes to his favorite subject in school, Foreman laughed and explained lunch is his favorite because he wishes he can always be in the kitchen cooking up his favorite hot dogs and beans.
He's not sure where he wants to go to college, but he does want to play both football and continue to wrestle.
Next up the Colonials face off against Milford on Friday night at home.
