Markell heads to India for a trade mission
Governor Markell will embark on a 10-day trip to India.
The trade mission includes visits with CEOS from Internet technology firms in Mumbai, Bangalore, and Delhi, in hopes those companies will expand or re-locate to Delaware.
Here's his pitch.
"We have a lot of very talented people in the IT field, I mean just think about all the people in our financial services companies and the like, and another significant Delaware company just got a big investment this week, SevOne, so we've got a great workforce; we're a great place to do business," says Markell.
Markell will also speak at an annual IT leadership forum in Mumbai February 13th.
He was last in India in 1978, so he's expecting several changes.
"India has come, certainly a very long way over these last 30 years, but my job is to make sure we're doing everything we can to make sure Delaware's well-positioned in the economy going forward," Markell says.
He'll be traveling with DelDOT Sec. Shailen Bhatt, University of Delaware President Pat Harker, and Deputy Director for International Trade Felicia Pullam.
He leaves Feb. 6th and returns Feb. 13th.
