VIDEO: SusCent grapplers stop Caravel Sussex Central wrestling took advantage of their superior depth at the higher weight classes to defeat Caravel 66-15 on the road Wednesday night. Caravel's David Summerfield was able to secure a 3rd period pin in the 138 bout on Central's Quanten Jennings cutting the visitor's advantage to just 18-15. Unfortunately for the Bucs, that would be their final points of the evening, as Cole Elliot quickly responded with a pin on Devon Grant in the second round of the 145 match. The final two matches also ended in pins, with Kevine Knox stopping Robert Casey at 162 in a high-scoring three-round match, and Mark Williams needing just a round to pin Chad Lowe. The best match of the evening was in the 132 division, where Clint Ferrazzo of Caravel and Justin Bennett of Sussex Central were stale-mated at two early in the 3rd round. Ferrazzo was able to get a take down of his opponent, and then picked up three back points which proved critical when Bennett was able to score a reversal, but it wasn't enough as Ferrazzo held on 7-4. |
