Same-sex marriage push starts now in Del.
Equality Delaware holds a rally in Wilmington Wednesday in support of same-sex marriage in Delaware.
WDEL's Amy Cherry reports.
"Now is the right that," the right year for a same-sex marriage law in Delaware says Equality Delaware's Lisa Goodman.
The Executive Director says they've got support from the Governor and the General Assembly.
Opponents have always said a civil unions bill was a prelude to gay marriage in Delaware. WDEL has reached out to the Delaware Family Policy Council for comment.
But Goodman tells WDEL so much has changed across the nation since civil unions passed in April of 2011.
"The State of New York adopting marriage, the repeal of Don't Ask Don't Tell, the Obama Administration deciding that the Defense of Marriage Act was not constitutional," Goodman says all of those things were unpredictable.
She also points to same sex marriage laws successfully adopted in Maryland, Maine and Washington state.
Equality Delaware's town hall was held at the First & Central Presbyterian Church in Wilmington.
