Smyrna man 30 years for attempted robbery of Amish couple
A Smyrna man will spend three decades behind bars for the attempted armed robbery of an Amish couple.
Mark Carter admitted to threatening to shoot the couple in Hartly as they were riding home in their horse and buggy over the summer.
The couple had no money, and Carter fled.
Attorney General Beau Biden says Carter's sentence should set an example for those who commit crimes with guns.
Carter has a lengthy rap sheet. He spent years behind bars on charges of home invasion, armed robbery, burglary. He also severely beat a fellow inmate while in prison and was on parole when he attempted to rob the Amish couple.
