21-year-old lion dies at Philly Zoo A longtime resident of the Philadelphia Zoo has died. The 21-year-old African Lion named Merlin was euthanized over the weekend due to respiratory complications. Merlin was born at a zoo in South Africa in 1991 and came to Philly in 1993, where he was a favorite among visitors. The lion lived past the typical life span for his species. |
