VIDEO: St. Georges claims Division II wrestling title St. Georges Tech recorded a pair of pins on their way to a convincing 32-22 victory over top-seeded Polytech to claim their first Division II Wrestling State championship. After falling behind 4-0 thanks to a 12-1 major decision victory by the Panthers' Andrew Schmeusser, the Hawks claimed five of the next 6 bouts to take a 20-7 lead following a technical fall victory by Rocco Hladney at 170 pounds. Polytech's Mark Mullnack narrowed the gap with a 13-9 victory over Kevin Berry at 182, but then Tommy Halloway used a 2nd round pin to earn six critical points, putting the Hawks up 26-10 with five bouts to go. After another victory by Polytech, freshmen Brandon Dooley (285) and Brandon Hurd (106) scored wins to clinch the title. |
