VIDEO: Sals' DiVincenzo scores 29 in win over St. Mark's
Salesianum's Donte DiVincenzo scored 18 of his team's 20 2nd half points to help hold off a late St. Mark's rally in a 46-43 Sals' victory Friday night.
Salesianum (16-3) held a 26-20 lead at halftime thanks to nine points from DiVincenzo and a pair of three pointers from Nick Perugino, and kept the margin at six after an even third quarter.
A DiVencenzo three-pointer followed by a pretty driving layup by Anthony Reed both pushed Salesianum's lead up to nine early in the 4th before the Spartans began to rally.
Kris Moore collected a racquetball-like baseline save by Keith Hicklin, and then scored a basket with a Sals' player draped on his back to cut the game to 38-32 following the free throw.
Two possessions later Moore hit a short hook layup to cut the game to 38-36. Moments later Hicklin would hit a three pointer to make it 42-40 with 1:20 left, but his team could get no closer, although a frantic 3-point attempt on a play with .6 seconds remaining went strong.
DiVincenzo finished with 29 points. Hicklin led St. Mark's (8-11) with 16 points, while Hicklin added 12.
