Bear-area man had a handgun stolen from Newark PD A Bear man is under arrest for carrying a stolen firearm. During a traffic stop on January 17th, police allegedly found a pistol in the car of John Brierly. A records check showed, in 1987, the gun had been reported stolen by the Newark Police Department. Newark police arrested Brierly Wednesday. He faces several firearms charges.
