VIDEO: Blue Hens get to celebrate NCAA win with fans
Delaware's second NCAA Tournament win in program history was different than its first.
First of all, instead of a mid-major school in UALR, this time it was Big XII foe West Virginia.
But perhaps more importantly, instead of winning the game on a court in Little Rock, Arkanasas, this time it took place in front of 4,532 fans at the Bob Carpenter Center.
The Blue Hens found themselves down in the first half and a lively crowd was silenced when WVU scored the final five points to go into the break 33-26.
After a nervous start to the second half by both teams which saw the only points in the first five minutes come on an Elena Delle Donne basket, Delaware was able to spark a run thanks to an "and-one" by Delle Donne, and the crowd was lively for the rest of the game.
Danielle Parker, who finished with a game high 11 rebounds battle a tough WVU front line, noticed the fans: "I swear they warm up their vocal chords before they come here, yeah yeah!"
At times it seemed that West Virginia was struggling even to figure out their plays as they walked into the front court, "they really were like a sixth man today", according to Elena Delle Donne.
While just a few hundred fans were in Little Rock last year, the Bob is sold out for Round 2 on Tuesday night, when they hope they can cheer their Blue Hens past an ACC foe and into the Sweet 16.
