Newark boy to finally get his service dog
A Newark boy is finally getting his service dog.
Six-year-old Nate Meehan has autism, and his mom, Alison, is in Oregon picking up Indie, a labradoodle. Alison explains why Nate needs a service dog.
"If you are not holding his hand all the time, he will run, and he could run out in the street. He will run away," she said.
Friends and family helped raise the more than $13,000 to pay for Indie.
Alison says Indie is trained to help keep Nate calm. Nate will meet Indie for the first time this weekend.
