New help for NCCo small businesses
Entrepreneurs and small business owners can get access to valuable resources at new monthly event launching this week.
"Open for Business in New Castle County" kicks off Thursday morning.
Modeled on similar successful events in Kent and Sussex counties, the meetings will bring entrepreneurs together with people and organizations that can help with business development.
"There are many programs and services that are available to individuals that are considering small business ownership on the local, state and federal level," says Ellyn Herbert of the Small Business Administration.
Herbert says there are many overlapping sources available to those starting, or growing a business.
"Specifically, on the training and counseling side, and on the funding side - access to capital," Herbert says.
Herbert says the event brings entrepreneurs in contact with people and organizations that can help.
Middletown business owner Paul Mansone benefited from attending the Kent County events.
"They would look at what you were working on already and point you in the next direction as far as, 'OK, this is what you have to do now to take it to the next step,'" Mansone says.
"Any help that you can find, regardless of where it's coming from, is just outstanding," Mansone says.
The session is free and takes place the fourth Thursday of the month from 9 to 11 a.m. at 12 Penns Way in New Castle.
