Swedish royals tour Philly, before heading to Del.
Members of Sweden's royal family are visiting Philadelphia as part of a four-day trip to the U.S.
Mayor Nutter welcomed King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia to City Hall on Friday.
Nutter spoke of the city's many ties to Sweden, noting immigrants from Scandinavia helped settle the area centuries ago.
The king and queen then saw the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall. They were also slated to visit the American Swedish Historical Museum in south Philadelphia.
The royals are marking the 375th anniversary of the founding of the colony of New Sweden, which is present-day Wilmington.
On Saturday, the royals will mark the anniversary in massive celebration on the Riverfront. WDEL will be there.
