Report: Blue Hens QB stabbed in Newark

A published report identifies University of Delaware quarterback Trevor Sasek as the student stabbed over the weekend in Newark.

The News Journal cites "sources close to the football team" in their report.

Newark police say they were investigating a stabbing which took place at 1:20 a.m. Sunday morning in the parking lot at 54 East Delaware Avenue, behind the Main Street Galleria.

Police say they learned of an argument between the victim and another man, which led to a fight that ended with one man suffering multiple stab wounds to the chest and abdomen. Police would only identify the victim as a 22-year-old UD student, which matches Sasek. They also said the victim underwent surgery and was listed in stable condition.

The suspect is described as a white 5'11" to 6' male, aged 18-22, weighing 185 to 190 pounds, and wearing a white T-shirt and a black hat.

Sasek played in two games for Delaware in 2012, completing both of his passes for 12 yards. He started two games and played in four in 2011, scoring a rushing touchdown but not throwing for one.
