Denn-headed panel issues workers' comp recommendations
A task force, headed by Lt. Governor Denn aimed at curbing huge workers' comp rate increases, is out with some recommendations.
Denn says the panel has been working for the past 100 days on ways to brings those costs down.
"Place tighter controls on workers' compensation medical costs. Medical costs are 70 percent of the cost of workers' compensation premiums in Delaware. We are recommending a two year inflation freeze in the fee schedule. We're recommending that hospitals, after that two-year freeze is over, get a lower inflation increase every year than they currently get," says Denn.
Denn says the panel also recommends hiring an attorney part time to represent businesses during the rate setting process.
Members also favor improving the state's workplace safety program to be able to determine which workplaces are using appropriate safety practices.
